Silkworth Lodge, was opened in 2002 by The Families in Recovery Trust which is a Jersey registered charity and part of The Silkworth Charity Group. Silkworth Lodge is a force of healing and hope for individuals, families and communities affected by addiction to alcohol and other drugs. We announce that Sharon Betts has been appointed as our new Chief Executive Officer replacing Jason Wyse who has held the position for the last 13 years.
Sharon joins Silkworth with years of experience within the Third Sector in the UK, Asia and Jersey. She has been with Brighter Futures for the last three years as their Community Engagement Officer where through empathy, drive and a capacity for innovation and creativity, she significantly increased fundraising income, brand awareness and ‘reach’ of the charity.
“My experience with the wonderful team and client families at Brighter Futures has been tremendously rewarding. I am fully behind, and will remain so, their mission to help and guide families in Jersey facing difficult times”
“I have long admired the work of Silkworth and it is a tremendous privilege to have been chosen for this role. I look forward to working in partnership with the charitable and private sector, people and organisations, who share a passion for addressing and responding to the significant difficulties and challenges we face as a society. My passion for the third sector is my greatest strength, and Jersey is blessed to have such a strong, charitable, volunteer contribution to create a better Jersey”
Jason Wyse who has been involved with the charity as CEO since 2009, has played an instrumental part together with the highly skilled team and Board of Trustees to make the Silkworth Charity Group the centre of excellence that it is today. He will remain connected to the Charity Group on an advisory level and will retain the Registered Manager position.
“ Being involved with Silkworth has been more than just a job to me, it has evolved into a passion where being able to give individuals and their families an opportunity of recovery and raising the profile of silkworth and addiction has formed a big part of my life during my tenuer. The time has come to naturally hand over the reins and I could not be happier doing so to Sharon Betts. Sharon and I will work closely to ensure a suitable and effective hand over period that will ultimately benefit our clients and the wider population.

When we hear another person’s story that touches us in a meaningful way, it often comes right when we need it, when we’re in a dark place and suffering. We need other people when we’re in this place. We need other people to help us feel less isolated
