We're delighted to receive the fundraising efforts of De La Salle students from Scott House, who have raised a total of £3,744 for Silkworth Charity Group during their Charity Week last October.
The week-long programme of events took place across 6 days and included a football match, a Bus-Pull, cake sales, a 5-A-Side-tournament and a Dodge-Ball tournament.
The events were led by Head of Scott House and P.E. Teacher, Mr Livesey. Students from all year groups of Scott House took part and the decision to donate proceeds from their activities to Silkworth Charity Group was made by democratic vote between the students themselves.
The annual Bus-Pull along the 5-mile road was the biggest fundraiser of the week, raising £1,750 in sponsorship and over £250 from passers-by, bringing the total to an incredible £2000! The inaugural ‘Big Match’ was played against Victoria College and raised over £1,200 in sponsorship and donations.
74% of Scott House turned out for the main events and teachers, tutors and parents all helped to assist, motivate and support the efforts through marshalling and coordinating.
Mr Livesey said:
"It’s great to see the boys engaged and motivated to raise money through their own efforts and team-work whilst having lot’s of fun. My 6th form leadership team have been especially interested in supporting the charity since their recent visit to the lodge and are proud to be able to contribute to the great work of the charity which supports the community."
Our CEO, Jason Wyse, said: "We're over the moon to receive such great support from De La Salle Students who've been genuinely interested in what we do - their dedication in supporting our work is very encouraging. The money raised will contribute to vital treatment our clients receive to support their recovery from substance abuse."
A heartfelt thank you from all of us at Silkworth Lodge to the students, teachers, parents, friends and supporters of De La Salle Charity Week, for all your support.
